Stationary Then Eigenfrequency
Selecting a Stationary Then Eigenfrequency () study gives a solver configuration with a Stationary Solver followed by an Eigenvalue Solver, effectively setting up a coupling between the two solvers in a single study step. When used together with gradient-based optimization, the coupling is set up without a Solution Store feature. This useful whenever the Helmholtz feature is enabled in a Density Model feature or one of the Free Shape features is used in the shape optimization interface. The study step is not supported with sensitivity, and the behavior is different outside the context of optimization in the sense that different solutions are created for the two solvers.
The Physics and Variables Selection, Values of Dependent Variables, Mesh Selection, Adaptation and Error Estimates, and Geometric Entity Selection for Adaptation sections and the Include geometric nonlinearity check box are described in Common Study Step Settings. There is also detailed information in the Physics and Variables Selection and Values of Dependent Variables sections.
The study step is demonstrated in the Optimization Module Application Library model Maximizing the Eigenfrequency of a Shell, Application Library path Optimization_Module/Shape_Optimization/shell_eigenfrequency_shape_optimization.
