Use the Rotational Continuity Pair node, selected from the
Pairs menu, to specify a pair where the periodic condition should be applied to the magnetic vector potential between different parts that are rotating at different velocities. This feature works in conjunction with the
Rotating Domain feature and, in the case of a sector, the
Rotational Periodicity feature. More details can be found in
Typical Setup of Rotating Domain, Rotational Continuity Pair, and Rotational Periodicity.
When the Rotational Continuity Pair is used, the phase dependent axial torque exerted by the two adjacent rotating parts is available in result evaluation on the form
<phystag>.<featuretag>.Tax_tpph (for example,
mmtp.rcon1.Tax_tpph if the tag of the physics interface is
mmtp and the tag of the
Rotational Periodicity feature is
rcon1). More details on the structure of available variables can be found in
Feature Specific Variables and Accessing the Solution at Different Phases. The torque calculation follows a procedure similar to that of Arkkio’s method, which is described in the
Arkkio’s Method section.
