To remesh a face mesh, use the operations Free Triangular or
Free Quad. Another way of improving the quality of an imported surface mesh is to use the
Adapt operation, which is described in more detail in the section
Modifying the Element Size Using Refine and Adapt. However, the
Adapt operation is designed to preserve the anisotropy of a mesh, so if there is a lot of elements with acute angles, the
Free Triangular operation can be a better option. Use several
Adapt or
Free Triangular operations, or combine them, to get rid of traces of elements with acute angles or to further smooth out irregularities in the mesh.
To remesh an imported domain mesh, clear the check box Import domain elements check box in the Mesh
Import node or use a
Delete Entities operation to delete the domain elements. Once the surface mesh is of sufficiently good quality, add a
Free Tetrahedral and
Swept operations to mesh the domains. If needed, add
Boundary Layers once the domain mesh is restored. The mesh is now ready to be used for simulation. No geometry is needed in this case.
