Control Valve
Use the Control Valve node to introduce additional pressure losses in order to regulate flow within the system.
The Control Valve node can only be applied to points that are connected to exactly two edges.
Valve Specification
The arrow in the graphics window indicates the flow direction. Select the Reverse direction checkbox to switch it.
Select a Specification for the control valve — Loss coefficient (the default), Flow coefficient, Flow factor, or Flow rate.
For Loss coefficient, Flow coefficient, Flow factor, Enter a value or expression for the Opening fraction xfr. The default is 1 (valve fully open). Select Flow characteristic: Choose how the valve opening affects flow response — Linear, Equal Percentage, or Quick Opening.
Loss Coefficient
Provide two values to define the pressure loss behavior: the pressure loss coefficient for the fully open valve Kmin and the coefficient at the closed position Kmax, allowing a small leakage, for Linear and Quick Opening characteristics. Specify R (Rangeability) instead of Kmax when the Equal Percentage characteristic is selected.
Flow Coefficient
Provide two values that describe the valve capacity to pass fluid: coefficient at full opening Cvmax and lower bound Cvmin for Linear and Quick Opening characteristics. Specify R (Rangeability) instead of Cvmin when the Equal Percentage characteristic is selected.
Flow factor
Provide two values that describe the valve capacity to pass fluid: coefficient at full opening Kvmax and lower bound Kvmin for Linear and Quick Opening characteristics. Specify R (Rangeability) instead of Kvmin when the Equal Percentage characteristic is selected.
Flow Rate
For Flow rate, enter a value or expression for the Volumetric flow rate Qvvalve(SI unit: m^3/s). The default is m^3/s.
