Topology Optimization
Introduction
Topology optimization problems can be solved by relaxing the discrete optimization problem to a continuous optimization problem using the density method; see Theory for Topology Optimization. The Density Model feature adds a material volume factor as a control variable in a custom selection. A minimum length scale can be imposed together with common options for projection and interpolation. It is up to you as the user to use the penalized material volume factor to interpolate material properties; see the Topology Optimization of an MBB Beam or Minimizing the Flow Velocity in a Microchannel models for examples of topology optimization in structural and fluid mechanics, respectively. The following is a list of topology optimization features
The Density Model feature uses a Helmholtz filter, it behavior can be modified using the Prescribed Void, Prescribed Material, Prescribed Density, Prescribed Void Boundary, Prescribed Material Boundary and Prescribed Density Boundary. All of these features can be added via the graphics context menu.
