When working with imported meshes, you may run into applications where you want to combine your imported mesh with an imported CAD part, CAD assembly, or with geometry created in COMSOL Multiphysics. The recommended workflow is to import the geometry and mesh to a Mesh-Based Geometry sequence and combine them using mesh operations. The imported meshes can come from file (like NASTRAN or STL) or be imported mesh data from Filter or Partition datasets.

When creating geometry or importing CAD files that you later want to combine with an imported mesh, you can view the imported mesh with the geometry to help with positioning the design. This is done by creating a geometry object from the mesh. For more information, see Creating Geometry from Mesh.
