This node is similar to the Solid node, with an additional
Translational Motion node to account for convection. The
Solid with Translational Motion node can be used to model rectilinear scrolling motions for block geometries, or rotating motions for cylindrical geometries in stationary or transient analyses. While
Solid is solved on the material frame,
Solid with Translational Motion is solved on the spatial frame. It induces that accounting for convection requires a
Moving Mesh node for
Solid, while it requires a
Translational Motion node for
Solid with Translational Motion. Both methods are exclusive to keep consistent material properties, so it is not possible to combine a
Translational Motion node with a
Moving Mesh node. It is recommended to use a
Solid node and a
Moving Mesh node to model motions and deformations of solids.
