Mesh
By default, the Electromagnetic Waves, Beam Envelopes interface will suggest a physics-controlled swept mesh, consisting of ten mesh elements per transverse dimension and ten mesh elements in the longitudinal direction (the propagation direction). To sufficiently resolve the modes and the mode coupling, 20 mesh elements will be used in this model for both the transverse and longitudinal dimensions.

In the Home toolbar, select Mesh 1 .

In the Settings window for Mesh, change the Label text field to Mesh, Unidirectional.

Go to the Electromagnetic Waves, Beam Envelopes, Unidirectional section and enter 20 in the Number of transverse mesh elements field.

Enter 20 in the Number of longitudinal mesh elements field.

In the settings for the Mesh node, click the Build All button .
