Electrode Surface Coupling
Use the Electrode Surface Coupling node to specify the mass flux into or out of the domain based on current densities specified in an Electrochemistry. The following generic electrochemical reaction is solved
The normal mass flux on the surface is defined as
where the mth reaction is defined as
Here, F is Faraday constant, n is the number of participating electrons in the reaction, νi,m are the stoichiometric coefficients, and iloc is the normal current density of the electrode reaction.
The following convention is used: If the transported species is the reduced species, the stoichiometric coefficient νred is set to a positive value. Otherwise, the stoichiometric coefficient νox is set to a negative value.
The Electrode Surface Coupling node is available in a limited set of add-on products. See www.comsol.com/products/specifications/ for details.
