Stabilization
When a membrane is unstable in its original configuration, you can use an automatic stabilization technique in order to avoid numerical problems until the external loads have created the necessary tension. To do that, you add a Stabilization node.
The effect is that a spring, acting in the direction perpendicular to the membrane is added. This spring is then removed using either an automatic scheme, or by a customized rule. When using the automatic version, you should increase the external load gradually, using at least three steps in order to ensure that no effect of the added spring remains.
