The Added Mass node is available on domains and boundaries and can be used to supply inertia that is not part of the rotor itself but is attached to the rotor. Therefore, inertial forces from this feature also take the effect of the rotation about the rotor axis into account. Such inertia does not need to be isotropic, in the sense that the inertial effects are not the same in all directions. It also adds the effect of acceleration due to gravity if the gravity feature is added in the current domain for the domain feature or in the neighboring domains for the boundary feature.
Select a Mass type using
Table 4-2 as a guide. The default option is the type for the geometric entity. The added mass matrix can be entered as
Isotropic,
Diagonal, or
Symmetric. For
Isotropic, the same mass is used in all the diagonal elements of the mass matrix.
