Split Halves
In a split halves journal bearing, the bearing surface consists of two separate circular halves that are offset by a distance 2d in the local y direction. A sketch of such a bearing is shown in Figure 7-11:

The initial film thickness for the split halves bearing is given by:
C is the difference between the radius of the bushing and the journal, and d is the distance by which the center of the upper and lower halves are offset from the journal center.
