Initial Film Thickness in Journal Bearing
The initial film thickness is calculated by assuming that the reference surface is the initial journal surface itself. Therefore, the height of the bearing surface from the reference surface (journal) gives the initial film thickness. Initially, both the journal and bearing are concentric.
