Mesh 1
The following steps will set up a mesh with its element size controlled by a global parameter, and use a different mesh for the middle segment of the heat pipe.
Mapped 1

In the Mesh toolbar, click  Mapped.

In the Settings window for Mapped, locate the Domain Selection section.

From the Geometric entity level list, choose Domain.

Select Domains 4, 7–9, 11, and 12 only.
Distribution 1

Right-click Mapped 1 and choose Distribution.

In the Settings window for Distribution, locate the Distribution section.

From the Distribution type list, choose Predefined.

In the Number of elements text field, type length/r_outer/mesh_factor.

In the Element ratio text field, type 10.

Select the Symmetric distribution checkbox.

Click  Build Selected.
Free Triangular 1
In the Mesh toolbar, click  Free Triangular.
Size

In the Model Builder window, click Size.

In the Settings window for Size, locate the Element Size section.

Click the Custom button.

Locate the Element Size Parameters section. In the Maximum element size text field, type 0.9*min(w_casing, w_wick)*mesh_factor.

In the Minimum element size text field, type 0.3*min(w_casing, w_wick)*mesh_factor.
Boundary Layers 1

In the Mesh toolbar, click  Boundary Layers.

In the Settings window for Boundary Layers, locate the Domain Selection section.

From the Geometric entity level list, choose Domain.

Select Domains 2–5 and 8–11 only.
Boundary Layer Properties

In the Model Builder window, click Boundary Layer Properties.

In the Selection drop box, choose “All Wick Boundaries”.

Click  Build All.
