Critical Heat Flux for Nucleate Boiling
The correlation given in Equation 4-203 is valid up to a temperature difference at which the critical heat flux is obtained. The critical heat flux can be expressed as a function of the latent heat, liquid and vapor densities, surface tension, and gravitational acceleration as follows (Ref. 21):
(4-204)
where Cmax = 0.149 for a large horizontal surface, and Cmax = 0.116 for a large horizontal cylinder.
