This node is contributing to the Electrolyte node and can be used to specify a nonunit electrolyte volume fraction, and to alter the bulk diffusivity coefficients defined in the
Diffusion Coefficients node as a result of a lowered electrolyte volume fraction and the topology (tortuosity) of the porous media. The node is typically used to define an inert separator, but may also be used to define porous electrodes by combining it by one or multiple
Species Sources nodes.
The Effective diffusivity correction setting defines a correction factor which is used as a prefactor to the chemical potential gradients when computing the diffusion fluxes on the
Electrolyte node. The correction may be set to either
Bruggeman,
Tortuosity,
Effective diffusivity factor, or
No correction.
The Electrolyte volume fraction setting defines the relative pore volume of electrolyte in the porous matrix. The setting impacts the mass conservation equation used in time-dependent simulations, but also the diffusion correction factor used in the
Bruggeman and
Tortuosity options.
