The Selection subnode (

) provides the possibility to define a selection for some plots. Add it to make the plot appear only in some geometric entities (some domains, for example). Arrow Line, Arrow Point, Arrow Surface, Arrow Volume, Contour, Coordinate System Line, Coordinate System Surface, Coordinate System Volume, Isosurface, Line, Max/Min Line, Max/Min Surface, Max/Min Volume, Mesh, Multislice, Principal Stress Volume, Principal Stress Surface, and Principal Stress Line, Slice, Streamline, Streamline Multislice, Surface, and Volume plots support the Selection attribute. In the
Model Builder, add one of those plot types; then right-click the plot node and select
Selection.
From the Geometric entity level list, choose any geometric entity level between the element dimension where the plot evaluates and the plot group’s dimension, if applicable. For example, for a Surface plot in a 3D plot group,
Boundary (the default) and
Domain are available. If you choose
Domain for a surface plot, the boundaries that belong to the selected domains are selected, so it can provide a quick way of selecting multiple boundaries.
From the Selection list, choose
Manual to select the geometric entities (domains or boundaries, for example, depending on the plot type) directly in the Graphics window or using the tools in the
Selection section. You can also select
All domains or
All boundaries, for example, or any applicable selection defined in the model.
The Evaluation section is available for plots that evaluate on boundaries — for example, a Surface plot in a 3D plot group — if the
Geometric entity level is set to
Domain.
From the Evaluate in list, choose
Adjacent boundaries (the default) or
Selected domains to specify where to map the result of the evaluation. When
Selected domains is chosen, evaluations on boundaries are mapped to their adjacent domains. This can help produce more accurate plots when the adjacent domains have strongly contrasting material properties, for example. If you choose
Selected domains, you can also control whether boundaries external or internal to the selected domain are included in the plot by selecting or clearing the
Exterior boundaries and
Interior boundaries checkboxes, respectively.
