Add a Table Annotation () plot to add annotations from a table to a plot. Right-click a 1D Plot Group, 2D Plot Group, or 3D Plot Group to add this plot type. First define a table to plot. This plot is also available from the plot groups’ contextual ribbon toolbars, under More Point Plots (3D and 2D) or More Plots (1D). Add Transparency to Visual Effects subnodes if needed (3D only).

From the Source list, choose Table (the default), Evaluation group, or Local table. For the two first options, choose a table or evaluation group table with the data that you want to use for annotations from the Table or Evaluation group list below. Then, from the x-coordinates, y-coordinates, and z-coordinates (3D only) lists select the columns to use for the x-coordinates, y-coordinates, and z-coordinates, respectively: Select Row index to use the table’s row indexes (row numbers), or leave it at Automatic to let the software determine the input from the data in the table. Also, select an option from the Annotation list to determine what to display in the annotation text: Row headers (the default), Row numbers, Label, or Manual. Select Label to make the annotation display the plot group’s label. If you choose Manual, enter an annotation in the Text field.

If you choose Local table from the Source list, a table appears where you can define the annotations by adding rows with coordinates in the x-coordinate, y-coordinate, and z-coordinate (3D only) columns and the corresponding annotations in the Annotation column.

For all options in the Source list, select the LaTeX markup checkbox if you want to include mathematical symbols and Greek letters, for example.

When done, click the Plot button () to plot the table annotations.

The Show point checkbox is selected to show a point for the location of the data in the table.

From the Color list, select From theme (the default) or select one of the available colors. Select Custom to define a custom color.

From the Background color list, select None (the default) for no background color, From theme (the default) or select one of the available colors. Select Custom to define a custom color.

From the Anchor point list, select an anchor point for the annotation: Upper left (the default), Upper right, Upper middle, Middle right, Center, Middle left, Lower right, Lower middle, or Lower left.

From the Orientation list, choose Horizontal (the default) or Vertical for a vertically oriented annotation.

Select the Show frame checkbox to display a frame around the annotation.

Select the Relative padding checkbox to add optional padding to the annotation in the x padding, y padding, and z padding (when available) fields. The values for the padding are relative. The default value, 0.1, means a padding that is 10% of the bounding box for the annotation.
