Downloading and Installing the COMSOL Software

Go to the web page www.comsol.com/product-download. To download the COMSOL installer, you must first create a COMSOL Access account as described in the section Installation over the Internet.

You are now given the options of downloading the COMSOL online installer or the COMSOL offline installer (a DVD image).
If you have problems downloading (such as Error downloading file. Connection refused: connect), please review this knowledge base entry: www.comsol.com/support/knowledgebase/1149. If you still have problems, contact your local COMSOL representative or technical support from the Support Center page www.comsol.com/support.
Starting the Online Installer for Installation over the Internet
The COMSOL Installer is a user interface tool that guides you through the installation process. The file to download is called comsol64_lnx.zip. Start the COMSOL Installer by extracting the downloaded file and then running the setup script. The COMSOL 6.4 Installer window should now appear. Next, continue with the instructions in the section Running The COMSOL Installer. below.
Installation from Downloaded DVD Image

Download the DVD image(s). The default image, COMSOL64_dvd.iso, is too large to burn to disc and must be mounted directly. For installations that require physical discs, download the files COMSOL64_dvd_1.iso, COMSOL64_dvd_2.iso, and COMSOL64_dvd_3.iso instead.

When you have downloaded the DVD image(s), mount the single image directly or burn the numbered images to discs. To directly mount the image, you can use a loopback device:
mount -o loop,exec COMSOL64_dvd.iso /mnt

Make sure the COMSOL DVD is in the DVD drive (or mount the image).

Type /mnt/setup
The COMSOL 6.4 Installer window appears. Now continue with the instructions in the section Running The COMSOL Installer below.
