The license server manager (lmgrd) and the vendor daemon (LMCOMSOL) run on the license server. When a user starts COMSOL Multiphysics on a client computer, communication is established through the network from the client to the license server and the license server manager (lmgrd). The license server manager then makes a request to the vendor daemon (LMCOMSOL), which releases licenses according to information in the license.dat file. The FlexNet utility programs are used for handling license server management tasks.
