LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS® Installations
If you have licensed LiveLink™ for SOLIDWORKS®, the installer registers an add-in for SOLIDWORKS called LiveLink for COMSOL (6.4). This add-in should appear in the SOLIDWORKS user interface, listed in the Add-Ins dialog, accessible from the Tools menu.
The add-in provides tools for preparing your SOLIDWORKS design for simulation with COMSOL Multiphysics. For example, you can create selections on the geometry and set up dimensional parameters. Those selections and parameters, together with the geometry, are synchronized with the COMSOL Multiphysics model.
The add-in enables two modes of setting up simulations based on the SOLIDWORKS design:

In one mode you can run SOLIDWORKS and the COMSOL Desktop side-by-side and synchronize the geometry between the two. This enables running parametric sweeps, as well as parameter optimizations using an optimization solver (available with a license for the Optimization Module).

In offline synchronization mode you can save a synchronization file using the add-in inside SOLIDWORKS. You can then load the synchronization file into the COMSOL Desktop running on a different computer from the CAD software. This enables single synchronizations and parametric sweeps.
If COMSOL Multiphysics cannot connect to SOLIDWORKS, run the COMSOL Installer to repair the installation (see www.comsol.com/support/knowledgebase/1221 for instructions), or manually reregister the add-in by following the steps from the following link: www.comsol.com/support/knowledgebase/1122.
You can also install and register the add-in with SOLIDWORKS by installing the COMSOL Client, available for download from www.comsol.com. Such an installation enables the functionality for preparing SOLIDWORKS designs for synchronization, saving files for offline synchronization, and running simulation apps that synchronize geometry.
