The Species Group node () contains information on a molecular level about the volumetric species and the surface species present in the coupled reaction group features. The Property for Volumetric Species or Property for Surface Species tables typically collect parameters from when importing CHEMKIN transport files.

This node is automatically added when either the Reversible Reaction Group or the Equilibrium Reaction Group is used.

The Show species name from CHEMKIN file checkbox is available when the coupled Reversible Reaction Group feature is used to import a CHEMKIN reaction system. With this checkbox selected, there will be an extra column, Name in CHEMKIN, in both the Property for Volumetric Species and Property for Surface Species tables. The Name in CHEMKIN column shows the original species names from the CHEMKIN file because the species names defined there can be modified to follow the naming rules in COMSOL.

For the case of temperature-dependent reaction kinetics, a Species Thermodynamics subnode is automatically created in which the thermodynamic properties of the species can be specified.

This section allows import of CHEMKIN transport files. To import the data directly into the table columns, click Browse to locate the CHEMKIN file to be imported, then click Import. Note that this section is only shown when transport properties are computed (Calculate mixture properties checkbox under the Calculate Transport Properties is selected).
