Theory for the Thin-Film and Porous Media Flow Interface
No-Slip Condition
The no-slip condition ensures that the total pressure in the porous media, p + pref, matches the total pressure in the thin-film region, pfilm + pref, at the intersection of the physics interfaces, that is,
(7-73).
Also, a mass source/sink term is added to the Reynolds equation or the modified Reynolds equation that accounts for mass flux at the interface. For Reynolds equation, it takes the form
(7-74),
and, for the modified Reynolds equation, it takes the form
(7-75),
where, n is the normal to the interface, ρ is the fluid density, pA is the total pressure and u is the fluid velocity in the porous media at the interface.
