The Interface Current Source is available for boundaries only. Instead of representing a source interior to the layer, or a source on the layer’s outer perimeter, it represents a net current density flowing from the adjacent domain into the shell (
Qj,s, SI unit: A/m
2), It can be used to model, for example, a boundary acting as an electrode. Alternatively, for interior interface selections it can represent a source of current on an interface between layers.
In the 3D representation of the layer stack, you could consider it a Current Source applied to either the top or bottom of the layer stack or on an interface between layers. For more information on the 3D representation of the layer stack, see
Layer and Interface Selection Tools.
