Beam Cross Section
The Beam Cross Section interface is used to compute cross-section properties of beams, and also to evaluate stresses in a beam segment when the section forces along the beam are known. It is mainly used in conjunction with the Beam and Pipe Mechanics interfaces.
As input, you provide a 2D sketch of the cross section. In addition to the stress variables, geometrical properties like area, moments of inertia, center of gravity, principal axis directions, torsional rigidity, shear center location, shear correction factors, and warping constant are calculated.
The Beam Cross Section interface is available in 3D and 2D. The full 3D stress distribution along the beam can be visualized.
