Porous-Porous Interface
This node is active on a restriction of the parent Porous Interface feature where boundaries are adjacent to two porous medium features. Here, porous medium features refer to the Building Material and the Hygroscopic Porous Medium features. Use this node to manage the fluxes continuity at the interface between two porous medium domains.
This condition imposes the continuity of the relative humidity ϕw, and the continuity of different fluxes depending on the adjacent porous domains. In Building Material features and Hygroscopic Porous Medium features with Equilibrium between liquid and gas phases set to Equilibrium formulation, the continuity of the total flux is ensured since the liquid and vapor phases are solved together. For any combination of these features, the following equations stand:
Since the equality only constrains the total flux, phase change can occur at the interface. This phase change is accounted for in the evaporation flux:
Note that this flux is not directly used in the Moisture Transport interfaces, but in the Heat and Moisture coupling, where it is multiplied by the latent heat to be accounted for as a heat flux.
When at least one of the two adjacent domains is a Hygroscopic Porous Medium feature with Equilibrium between liquid and gas phases set to Nonequilibrium formulation, the liquid and vapor fluxes can be constrained separately, ensuring continuity of the total flux. The condition on relative humidity still stands:
In this case, no phase change occur, therefore:
In all cases, the following contribution is added by the Heat and Moisture coupling to the heat flux at the interface:
