Ionization Loss
The Ionization Loss subnode is available from the context menu (right-click a Particle-Matter Interactions parent node) or from the Physics toolbar, Attributes menu. Use this subnode to model the deceleration of ions by electrons in the target material. The deceleration is treated as a continuous braking force that acts opposite the direction of motion of the particles.
Loss Mechanism
Select an option from the Electronic Stopping Power list: Protons on silicon, Alpha particles on silicon, or User defined. For Protons on silicon and Alpha particles on silicon the force that opposes the particle motion is expressed as a function of the particle kinetic energy based on empirical data tabulated in Ref. 1. For User defined enter a value or expression for the stopping power Se (SI unit: m4/s2). The default value is 1 MeV·cm2/g.
