Definition of Contact Tractions

Since contact enforces geometric nonlinearity, contact tractions (for example the contact pressure and friction forces) are represented as nominal tractions. They are thus to be viewed as a density with components in the current configuration (that is, on the spatial frame) but related to the undeformed area of the corresponding surface element.
