Applied Force and Moment
Use the Applied Force and Moment subnode to apply forces and moments on either the source or destination attachment of a joint, or directly on the joint degrees of freedom.
The Applied Force and Moment subnode can be added to the Prismatic Joint, Hinge Joint, Cylindrical Joint, Screw Joint, Planar Joint, Ball Joint, Slot Joint, and Reduced Slot Joint. The contents of the settings sections will differ between different joint types.
Applied On
Select Source attachment, Destination attachment, or Joint to apply force and moment on the selected attachments or directly on the joint degrees of freedom.
Location
In this section you define the point of action of the force. This section is not available when the force is applied on Joint.
Select Center of attachment, Center of joint, or User defined. For User defined enter values or expressions for the Location Xp.
Applied Force and Moment
For Source attachment or Destination attachment, enter values or expressions for the applied force F and applied moment M (3D components) or Mz. The forces or moments that you prescribe are interpreted in the selected coordinate system.
When the load is applied on Joint, the input in this section depends on the joint type. For all joints, a scalar force or moment acts directly on the single translational or rotational degree of freedom in the joint, while vector inputs have directions as given by the selected coordinate system.
For Prismatic Joint, enter the scalar force F.
For Hinge Joint, enter the scalar moment M.
For Cylindrical Joint, Screw Joint, or Reduced Slot Joint, enter the scalar force F and moment M.
For Planar Joint, enter the force vector F, and the scalar moment M.
For Ball Joint, enter the moment vector M.
For Slot Joint, enter the scalar force F and the moment vector M.
