Open a New Window to Begin Modeling
To open a New window:
In the Quick Access Toolbar (Windows users) or the Model toolbar (macOS and Linux users), click the New button ().
Select File>New.
The New window also opens directly on startup when the Show on startup check box at the bottom of the New window is selected.
After the New window opens to the Model page, select an option:
Click the Model Wizard button () to open the Select Space Dimension window. Go to The Model Wizard section to continue.
Click the Blank Model button () to open COMSOL Multiphysics without any model set up in the Model Builder or return to the default COMSOL Desktop. You can then add components and physics interfaces to the model.
To enable the Physics Builder, choose Preferences () from the File menu (Windows users) or from the Options menu (macOS and Linux users). Click Physics Builder and select the Enable Physics Builder check box.
After the applicable check box is selected, go to the Model Wizard and on the New page under Physics, click Physics Builder (). See the Physics Builder Manual for information.
Click the Help button () to open the Help window to get information about the New window. Click the Cancel button () to close the New window without any action. The Show on startup check box is selected by default to open the New window when you start a new COMSOL Desktop session. If you clear that check box, the COMSOL Desktop opens directly in the standard view. To show the New window on startup again, choose File>New and select the Show on startup check box.
