Theory Background for the Acoustic Streaming Multiphysics
The field of acoustic streaming deals with the steady fluid flow induced by an acoustic field. This is a well-known effect described by Lord Rayleigh (Ref. 1) who explained the source of acoustic streaming induced by an acoustic field near a boundary. The modern research on acoustic streaming is focused on applications such as microfluidic devices for handling particles Ref. 2, mixing fluids, and forced convective cooling Ref. 3.
In the following sections, a short introduction to the theoretical background of acoustic streaming is presented. The theory is based on the work in Ref. 2, Ref. 4, Ref. 6, and Ref. 7.
