The String Node

The node (

) declares one or more named strings that you can access from form objects and methods. You can use a string as a source in many of the form objects, such as input fields, combo boxes, and check boxes. The window contains the following section:

List of Variables

This section contains a single table, where you specify one string stored per row. Specify the name in the column and the initial value for the string in the column. You can also add an optional description of the string in the column.


	Although you can specify the initial value for a string, that value may be overwritten if you use the string as a source to a form object that specifies a different value.

Use the (

), and (

) toolbar buttons to organize and remove choices from the list.

Code Access

In the code of a method, you access a string named string1 as if it were a normal Java String variable:

String s = string1;

string1 = "newValue";
