Moments in the Solid Mechanics Interface
The Solid Mechanics interface, as opposed to the Beam, Plate, and Shell interfaces, does not have rotational degrees of freedom. This makes the direct specification of moment loads somewhat more complicated. To specify moments, you can attach a Rigid Connector to the loaded area. The rigid connector has rotational degrees of freedom, and it is possible to apply moments directly. For load application, the flexible formulation of the rigid connector is particularly useful, since it avoids artificial stiffening of the boundary where the load is applied.
