Introduction to Linear Elastic Materials
Linear elasticity forms the basis for the majority of structural mechanics simulations.
For isotropic linear elasticity, two parameters are enough to describe the material behavior. The number of parameters increases to (at most) 21 for the fully anisotropic case in 3D. When setting up a model, make sure that the material parameters are defined in agreement with the type of relationship used. If necessary, transform the material data before entering it in the physics interface. For example, for
