Meshing BEM Models
When solving an acoustics problem with the boundary element method, the same restrictions exist on the mesh as for the finite-element-based interfaces. In general, the mesh should resolve the wavelength with 5 to 6 elements. The mesh should also resolve small details and curved surfaces adequately. For exterior problems, the mesh can in practice be slightly coarser and it typically suffices to use 4 elements per wavelength.
