Heat sources and sinks appear in an electrochemical cell due to both reversible and irreversible phenomena. To model the energy balance of an electrochemical cell a Heat Transfer interface is used to model the heat transport whereas a current distribution interface (such as the Secondary Current Distribution) is used to generate the heat sources and sinks due to the electrochemical currents. The Governing Equations are discussed in this section.
